More and more you see signs that the US (and Canada at times) is full of people that just need to grow up. Put on their big boy/girl pants and move on with their lives.
How bad is it when Mexico City, the second largest Catholic city in the world in a very conservative and religious country, legalizes gay marriage - and the US, as a nation, does not?
Pathetic.
Sure it may not last and it is just one city in the country, but how refreshing is it to see a group of politicians take the moral high ground.

Funny how the US (and sometimes Canada) uses religion and fear to shape public policy. Gives them/us a lot more in common with countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia than countries such as Sweden or France.
Pux was talking about China leapfrogging the US economically and maybe even environmentally - are we going to see cases of third world countries surpassing them morally as well?

moral leapfrogging
I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot more of it in the case of the US for certain. Not just leapfrogging of course... California showed us all how democracy can just as easily take us backwards on such issues. It's important not to single out the US though, they are far from the only nation exhibiting paranoia about such things.
I also think it might be a little difficult claiming there is a boundary on "moral issues". If you ask me, dealing with climate change is a moral issue, as is structuring an economy such that it doesn't implode on itself.
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
lol
It is getting messy in the US for gay couples to get a divorce - get married in one state, can't get divorced in another! Plus some people are demanding civil unions for heteros, etc - getting messier all the time! :)
I like it.
